This poem, which tapped into a sadness I wasn't consciously feeling, came form a prompt from
http://bigtentpoetry.org/ , a site which is really
encouraging me to stretch what i might otherwise write. Feels good.
Umbrella Man
I want to be you Umbrella Man,
to know how to fly away free
on magic sail of soaring song.
Sing me your secret, Umbrella Man.
Share how you shuck off the blues.
I can't wait til tomorrow, Umbrella Man,
As you fly free, please toss me your key.

I often get this feeling too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Stan, for commenting and feeling the feeling in the poem.
ReplyDeleteI could do with a turn with that key. Well done.

I love thinking about the Umbrella Man flying free. Oh, that we all could follow....
ReplyDeleteLovely sounds in this and a super sensation to go with them!
ReplyDeleteThank you Vivanfrance, Mary, and Derrick. Maybe sharing our poems is a way of tossing that key back and forth, or at least getting some glimpses of it.
ReplyDeleteDelightful poem, Victoria. I love the words "magic sail of soaring song."
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria, glad you are enjoying the stretch. :-)
ReplyDeleteLiked the sound of the poem, the repetition of Umbrella Man. Like the rhymes very much, too.
Oh, what a pleasure that would be! The sound and format work perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThank you Deb and Tumblewords. I am getting such a kick visiting your sites and others from the Big Tent, discovering the many things we do with these prompts.
