Writer
Writer breathes soul into characters
creates life from memory and word
orchestrates details, crafts world
until finally characters rise up real
to make the story their own.
This is written for Poets United Midweek Motif. The theme is "Animation."
Yes, we do. I like how you put it "breathes soul." And when the characters rise up wonders increase.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It is fun to be in a community of writers/creators.
DeleteTrue that!!
ReplyDeleteYup.
DeleteAgree... I believe good books write themselves.
ReplyDeleteWriting in hibernation, huh? A creative use of winter weather! May the characters continue to animate themselves. :)
ReplyDeleteThey have a way of being so. Perhaps it can be further explored!

I think this is the perfect example of less is more - perhaps the character rising up is the writer herself...
ReplyDeleteI like that you see this poem as an example of "less is more".
DeleteSo very true, Victoria! Writers DO breathe life into the characters who then BECOME the story! So nice to see you here at PU.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary, and thanks for encouraging me to come back.
DeleteYes, wrting is quite an act of creation, animation.
ReplyDeleteI love this :D indeed writers yield the power of pen which in turn weaves magic into their characters :D Beautifully executed!
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
Sanaa
Thank you.
DeleteIt is a gift to breathe life into something that has no dimension. I love the way you use animation in this poem
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteWriters definitely have a way of animating words and bringing them to life. Kind of like Dr. Frankenstein bringing a lifeless corpse to life. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteYes, animation can explain whatever the mind of man can conceive...Wonderful poem, Victoria!
ReplyDeleteshort and firm, :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it definitely seems that way - an animator's imagined characters suddenly seem as they have a life of their own! Reminds me of the Italian animated film "Allegro non Troppo" (see: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074121/)
ReplyDeleteNice post! I love this blog, thanks for sharing.
