so easy to construct
tile by tile
too busy
too tired
too worried
not in the mood
muse absent
not good enough
depressed
don't feel good
family needs me
people might see me
people might not
There are always good excuses for not writing. Not good enough though. We all need to keep writing in the forefront and push the excuses to the behind. Bum glue, I am a believer in it.
Interesting comments. I went back to read old poems tonight and focus on the word "excuses" in your copmments. Bob used it too when he read this poem. I wasn't thinking of them as excuses when I made the poem, just as tiles laid to build a block to doing what I want and need to do - not excuses for the rest of the world but pieces of an impediment I build for myself.
so true, Victoria
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Victoria, all the excuses not to write! So many sound very familiar to me!

ReplyDeleteI agree of course that none of these tiles we lay is sufficient to stop us writing.
ReplyDeleteThese excuses are not so easily cast aside, but there's nohing like good ol' bum glue. Nice poem, Victoria.
ReplyDeleteI understand this all too well, Victoria. I blame that muse of mine for my own druthers.
