Benefit of the Doubt

So much depends on
whether I read your
brisk preparation to
get out the door promptly
consciencious or impatient.

So much depends on
whether you read my
need to move with calm
deliberation, no hurry
anxious or inconsiderate.

So much depends on
benefit of the doubt.

  1. Excellent! And so very true. We all must try to be respectful and understanding of individual differences.

  2. Oh, yes. Often we misread intent, too. Bill and I have to have this talk every once in a while. I have to tell him how something makes me feel and he tells me why he does it..and vice versa. So much misunderstanding if we don't know how to read someone.

  3. So true and so well constructed, the tension between two different points of view, and how they can coexist

  7. Another benefit of the doubt poem (this is the first one--I am reading backwards in time). I love this perspective shifting -- and yes perception if everything. So glad to see you back to writing so frequently.
