Yes, Victoria, yes. You never know when that deep sorrow will hit you, sometimes especially at joyful moments like a ticklefest. They will all know Kerry through your eyes and heart, though. I still feel sad that Mark never knew my Mom and Dad.
Hugs to you Victoria. It is surprising when these memories and feelings just slip through at seemingly random times. But they also are a reflection of the deep love you and Kerry shared.
Funny how happiness and sadness can happen at the same time. Sometimes it seems when we let our guard down for one, the other slips in. It's hard to be vulnerable. Enjoyed your poem. Well written. :)
That sorrow seems to be a lifetime worth..I am there, too. Thankfully it just slips through some times now. I had not thought of grandchildren not seen. That is powerful.

ReplyDeletePoignant, beautiful, yet the sorrow that slips through allows an opening for love to slip in too.
ReplyDeleteNever know when the saddness will hijack you..even on the most beautiful days. Lovely poem of peace, love, and loss.
