Geode

When I was six
I believed each rock
would be a magic geode
alive with crystal light.

At sixty I know
most rocks are
simply rocks.
I still hope for geodes.

  1. I like this progression and the hope that is still there at sixty. Good metaphor for life (for the lucky ones)

  2. Yes, you haven't lost your childhood wonder and optimism despite your years of experience and wisdom. That's one of the things that makes you special.

  4. It would be nice if we could really find those things we believed in / looked for in childhood.

  5. Lovely Victoria. Keep hoping for the geodes! Geodes have so much potential as metaphors and they are really neat in fact!!
