Ticket Out of Here

Train Case, black rectangle
packed with bathing suit, towel,
address book, hiking shoes,
soft shirts, skirts, sunscreen.
No office keys. Escape in sight.

  1. Yes Victoria, escape in sight! I used to have a train case -- forgot it was called that. Wonder what became of it. The way you wrote this captures the urgency somehow too. Have a good weekend.

  2. Ahh, escape. I liked a look inside your suitcase and was suprised about skirts and hiking shoes. I am wondering now if I've ever seen you in slacks or jeans and I don't believe I have. What I learn through poetry! :) It sounds like you are ready for this keys. Enjoy!

  3. I can remember train cases, but never owned one. I wonder if they make them any more.

  4. Thanks for the comments. And yes Judy, I do wear jeans sometimes, especially in winter. It's just so hot here and I find skirts and loose dresses cooler. And Mary, my train case is just a few years old, so they do still make them. I like it's boxy taller shape better than the traditional suitcase. It just works for me.

  5. Fun poem, Victoria. It makes me smile to hear about your train case. I had one from matching luggage when I was in high school from my parents, a pretty blue one, that I finally gave up a few years ago.
