Stone 16 - Native Speaker

Resaca mocking bird,
laughes like a native
from mesquite perch
as I struggle to decode
Kisk, Kis Ka Dee Dee DEE?

  1. I can hear this bird clearly through your words, Victoria.

  2. I wonder if we'll ever be able to figure out what the birds are saying, Victoria. Their songs and squawks bring us so much joy. I love this poem.

  3. I've never heard of this bird. I'll have to look it up now. The call sounds interesting and unusual.

  4. The bird is the great kiskadee Judy, and it's cry sounds just like its name. It isn't in Florida or North Carolina, so you probably don't know it. It's mostly a south Texas bird.

  5. We don't have this bird either that I know of Victoria. I like how some birds are named for their calls--like the chickadee. This one looks like quite a good sized bird.
